but it wasn't too hard to restore the Bith aliens to their full glory. Whatever happened for Maxis to go with the "hat, socks and gloves" setup, I don't know.
AND, when browsing through the game files I happened upon a complete "regular" (diffuse) male body texture as well - unused by the game. It would seem that originally Maxis wanted to do full-bodied Star Wars aliens as well, as the normal map of the female Bith has a complete body texture.
